In 2016, my good friend James Kellogg asked me if I might want to turn one of his poems into a song. I looked through them and was immediately captivated by Lost At Sea. There wasn’t any song structure yet, but James said, “Feel free to take the basic idea and turn it into a song.” So, I reworked some sections and wrote an entirely new middle part, as that was missing. And then I forgot to publish the lyrics. Et voilà, here they are, finally delivered.
lost at sea
(sebastian/kellogg 2016)
I’m lost at sea
Drifting aimlessly
Can you see my storm
… feel my rain,
like tears
‚cause pain likes tears…
We wanted to be
love insanity
Did you see it form,
Can you feel us warm,
hearts so seared
‚cause love’s so dear….
Paradise
Storm-sinking
Heart-breaking
Paradise
Paradise
I can’t take it
You can’t take it
but we want
that Paradise
I’m lost at sea
Drifting aimlessly
Can you see my storm,
Can you feel my rain,
like tears,
‚cause pain likes tears…
I wanna be
Lost in your sea
And your love
So warm,
Lost in me, so
Let’s sail to
Paradise
Storm-sinking
Heart-breaking
Paradise
Paradise
Storm-breaking
Heart-shaking
I see right through this
Veil of deception
Yet change my point of view
Caught in that seismic
Chain reaction
All rationale subdued
Paradise
Storm-sinking
Heart-breaking
Paradise
Paradise
Storm-breaking
Soul-shaking
Paradise
Paradise
Storm-sinking
Heart-breaking
Paradise
Paradise
Soul-breaking
Soul-shaking
oh lets sail to Paradise
I’m lost at sea
I’m lost at sea
I’m lost at sea
